Nevada Legislature Won’t Hear About Legalizing Prostitution in Las Vegas

Friday, February 13th, 2009

So it’s official… the state turned down hearing about the bill to allow legalized prostitution in Las Vegas. A bill was being drafted but they were informed by the current legislature that the issue won’t be taken up this session. Some are disappointed, some are happy… but I am in the middle wishing it had been debated some (it’s always interesting to hear what people’s opinions are) but not wanting it to pass. Apparently they had gotten so far as to writing a part of the bill that would allow Mayor Goodman to have 3 operations open under a temporary trial phase until a board could be established. The discussion about the Legislature passing to hear about the measure was found at the Las Vegas Sun.

So the springtime is usually a rollercoaster of sorts as one convention comes into town and another event ends, sometimes there can be strange lulls in business and then one random Sunday night it can be good. I am used to these swings in the springtime, but this year has been way more of a rollercoaster. I loved the business the roofers, construction, concrete guys brought in, but since last Thursday it has gone from odd to strange. Last night I got really lucky on one good call and it was dead for the rest of the night. Tonight I have been bored and working on my computer from my car as I wait for a call. Hey, at least it has given me time to write an entry that was much needed, right?

Let’s just cross our fingers for the M.A.G.I.C convention this year… even though I wrote this not so promising entry last year. Maybe it will be opposite this time! Ehh… maybe…

Legalize Prostitution In Clark County?

Monday, January 26th, 2009

I ran across this story about how the question of legalizing prostitution in Clark County has come up again since the economy and casino profits have fell. A few years ago Mayor Oscar Goodman was criticized for even half mentioning changing the laws to allow this, but now State Senator Bob Coffin has suggested the change (I’m sure he isn’t getting as much grief as the poor mayor did). They also want to tax the bordellos, strip clubs and escort/entertainment services to help fund our ailing education in the state and so why not add bordellos to Las Vegas?

My opinion? Not a big fan of this proposition. It seems to me that the only people that truly get rich in the bordello industry out in Pahrump and in Northern Nevada are the owners of the houses. After watching documentaries and listening to girls experiences of working the brothels, it has made me change my mind somewhat of moving legalized prostitution here in Las Vegas. If they had it legalized so I could still go to hotel rooms and not be in fear to present some sort of menu? That would be nice, but it would never happen. They would keep the workers in a house and in a certain area of town to make everyone happy. It would make prices go down for the workers and more would be taken from their earnings so we wouldn’t make nearly as much money. Of course I would like for there to be a standardized way of making sure the current girls are all healthy and certified but I don’t know how that would work in a new legalized system without there being too much control over the industry as a whole.

I do agree the states education system is in desperate need of help and our Governor seems to keep screwing things up by cutting funding in all of the wrong places though during his campaign he claimed he would never touch education. Of course he lied and now they are cutting 30% of education when the system already can’t keep up with itself. I happened to drive by the rally they had at UNLV the other night and was shocked at the thousands of people rallying. Maybe taxing the current sexually oriented businesses would be a good idea but it shouldn’t just be limited to them. I think such entertainment companies like Pure Management and Light Group (the people who run the large nightclubs in town) who charge $400 bottles of Skyy vodka should be taxed too. After all they’ve been hiding the thousands of dollars that gets passed to their door guys unreported.. how about they fund education too? It’s all really screwed up though and there’s no easy answer

My Previous Encounters With The Law- Part I

Saturday, January 3rd, 2009

I just realized that on my old wordpress blog that I had told my readers (many who still followed me moving to my new domain) that I had been arrested but I would explain at a later date how I actually everything went down since I didn’t want to interfere with my court proceedings.

So the recent arrest was the first time in two years I had been arrested, and almost to the day. Two years ago I had been arrested twice during the fall/winter, once in October and once in December. The October incident had to have been one of the more crafty vice busts I have heard of and at the same time, absurd.

I had received an email from my Eros ad from someone who was interested in a girl to escort him to a very important business dinner. The email was so intricate with the story I am still shocked it ended up being a cop. The email started out introducing himself like any other client, and went on to say he recently separated from his wife and owns a company that is putting a proposal together to sell his product to Wal-Mart to carry in their stores. The client said he was from northern Louisiana (which is really not that far off from Wal-Mart’s home headquarters in Arkansas) and the meeting would be taking place in Las Vegas and wanted to make a good impression to the company and needed someone to act sophisticated and dress appropriately for the date. I quoted him my normal hourly rate for dinner dates and he agreed it would be fine. He also included in one of the emails that he would like to meet me the day before to make sure I was the right type of girl for the part of playing his wife and update me with personal information about himself that would be useful during the dinner. Not a problem! I made the appointment to meet, his room information checked out and he also agreed to take care of me for the pre-meeting.

So I go to the Bellagio all dressed up in what I would have worn to Sunday school, and meet with the customer (who is a shorter man who looks of Jewish descent) downstairs by the elevator as usual (since security checks for room keys) and we chit chat on the way upstairs. I asked him if anything was wrong since he looked a little uncomfortable but he said he was tired from traveling all day. We go upstairs and try to get into the room and for some reason his door key doesn’t work. Now you may think that’s some big warning sign, but it is something that happens all the time so no red flags went off to me. So he says, “Let’s go downstairs to get a new key at the front desk and talk a little on the way.” I keep informing him I don’t talk downstairs but he keeps asking me little questions to confirm what we discussed on the emails. He said, “So you said $X an hour right? So that would be $XXX for 6 hours? I think that amount of time would cover everything traveling from here to the dinner in my limo.” I inform him that I never ever take rides with clients in limos and that is okay with him. Almost to the front desk he throws in, “Yea so we can go to dinner then maybe come back here to do something else?” I said, “Uh, okay?” I forget the exact words he said but it was alluding to private entertainment but as far as sexual acts go, nothing was mentioned. He goes to the front desk while I wait on the couch under the glass ceiling, and we go back to the elevators. He mentioned right as we got on the elevator, “Yea okay, that amount seems like it will work out. $XXX right? Okay”

The elevator goes up and the doors open. We walk off and two men walk up to either side of me, one flashing some sort of badge down low that I could barely see and the other is grabbing my purse telling me to let go. What did I think was going on? I thought I was being robbed and held onto my purse. I looked back towards the customer and that’s when one of the officers said, “Don’t you realize, he’s one of us, you’re under arrest. We’re Las Vegas metro”. The one grabbing my purse smacks me on my head and yells, “LET GO NOW” and I yell back, “YOU CAN’T HIT ME! I thought I was being robbed!” They laughed at me like I’m an idiot for not comprehending why I was being arrested and barely seeing a badge from a fake looking wallet. I get taken to the room next to where I was supposed to go for the call and in the bathroom are 13 other girls under arrest. I recognize one of the girls from a service I worked for and kept it quiet. I didn’t find out that I had even been charged with soliciting prostitution until I got to jail and saw my paperwork. I was in jail for a short 12 hoursand released on my own recognizance… the shortest time ever.
So what happened with the case? I got a good lawyer, they avoided trial by getting me 20 hours of community service, having to complete an expensive sexual education class of sorts that you do online, and stay out of trouble until I complete the requirements. I actually learned a thing or two from the silly course. My charges were dismissed once everything was completed and was really just a waste of time in the court system for nothing.

I’ll finish with the second incident next time and how this arrest almost got completely screwed up….

Things From Jail About Pimping Still Running Through My Head

Sunday, December 14th, 2008

Well I am up later than I thought I would be tonight because I just can’t get some things out of my head that were being said in jail between girls who have pimps and how they “manage” them. It made me nauseated and I felt a little bit dumber being surrounded by these girls and their horrible logic. I know I will get some people commenting who are pro-pimping that follow my blog, but I do not support any part of it, especially after hearing these girls talk. Now, unfortunately I didn’t have my trusty journal pad handy to ask these girls questions that were written down in this entry by myself and other readers. I probably wouldn’t have done it anyway since I was in a holding cell with 20 other girls and the girls with pimps vs. the ones without was like 10 to 1. I definitely didn’t want to start any argument in a jail cell, for sure, so I kept my mouth shut, my ears open, and my differing opinion to myself.

There were about 3 or 4 girls that would go back and forth with each other and how their pimp was “so great” in this way and “my man takes care of me” this other way that it was nauseating. These girls had been arrested for prostitution and trespassing so many times just in the last month my jaw hit the floor. One girl had gotten out only 2 days before and another had been arrested 20 times in the past YEAR. These girls don’t care what it takes to go in and get the money in every casino, barred or not, so long as they make their man happy. They refuse to do escort services since that is giving their money up to someone else (huh? Great logic there) and don’t care to be arrested because it’s all part of the “game”. They clog up the court systems so bad with their cases, but I am sure they are making a lawyer happy somewhere.

Here’s what I don’t understand in their logic and it makes me want to shake them and say, “LISTEN to what you are saying and think about it… you’re an idiot!” These girls say they are making between $700 on a bad night and $3000 on a good night (which is probably true for most girls in Vegas) in one part of their conversation and then saying that their guy gets everything but their daily allowance is around $40 on average. One girl (who they considered a “spoiled bitch”) gets between $100-$200 a day and $500 whenever she wants to go shopping for herself. Their math was amazing. One common thing they all boasted was how the guy pays the bills, pays the rent, and for their car like it was so unbelievably sweet of him to do. Like it didn’t hit them that it was their money paying for the necessary things you need in life and they could easily do it for themselves without some threat of the guy beating them and being more normal.

The final thing that made me so sad was how robbing a customer (I don’t mean saying you’re going to do one thing like a blow job but end up only giving them a hand job) was part of how much money they brought in. It was essential to steal or else their totals weren’t as high to impress their pimp. In the end what I think? I think these types of girls deserve actually being locked up and taught some sort of lesson. I wish there was some sort of jail group that could help these girls but lets face it, our court and prison system sucks. You can be a prostitute and do it the right way like I try, or you can do it the wrong way like these girls. I just wish I wouldn’t get punished in the court of law and treated like I was one of these ladies.
