Las Vegas Early Morning Calls

Sunday, January 21st, 2007

It always kind of makes me snicker when I get a call off of my own personal ad around 8-9 am and the person has been to sleep the night before and didn’t pull an all nighter. Just like the man woke up, searched on the internet and the first thing he thought when he woke up was, “Hmm I feel like getting a prostitute to come by”. I guess my own personal sexual experience doesn’t make me particularly horny in the morning. I guess for some people their hormones rage when they first wake up. The other morning I got one of these calls around 9 am off of a new website that I have been advertising on. I was surprised that I got a call off of there since it’s a site that normally caters to people in the San Francisco area but lately has added a link to Las Vegas. Come to find out he was from the Bay Area and made an appointment before noon. Lately Alone Alive talked about who her favorite clients were and I remembered she said something about how her least favorite were Indians. I have definitely not had the crazy requests that she has had but I agree quite a few of them can be difficult or just are really cheap. The one exception I have observed so far is Indians who practice Sikhism (they usually wear a turban). These customers are rare but every experience has been a pleasant one and have been some of the nicest experiences (even if the amount I made wasn’t what I am used to), which included this one. I asked for a review on the website but have yet to find one posted. Then again reviews in Vegas haven’t been that necessary to do well in business out here so I am not one to get on message boards much or really push for reviews.

Really not much to get into lately on here since it is so dead around town this weekend. Hard to get motivated to write a blog when there isn’t much to write about. Convention season is gearing up though, so I am anxious for that!

The Las Vegas Christmas Slowdown

Sunday, December 10th, 2006

Business out here in December is as slow as cold molasses. After the rodeo leaves (which ended yesterday but we all know they aren’t big spenders) there really isn’t a darn thing that comes through Vegas until the new year. Thankfully though at the New Year CES comes around. Surprisingly even though Las Vegas is known for the biggest spot to hold conventions, only certain conventions you actually see a return cash wise on the amount of people that are in town. For example, the NAB conference (National Association of Broadcasters) is one convention that blows my mind every year. In mid-April it comes into town with 140,000 people who work for NBC, Toshiba, or Sony yet if I don’t go out to the casinos to find a customer at the bar I will be broke. My phone doesn’t ring from the services and when it does it ends up being a waste of time. On the other end, a show like the wireless phone convention in May who has 15,000 attendants (these are people who sell cell phones for a living.. not the big income kind of guy) I will make quite a bit of money on. There is just no easy formula for this town. I have yet to figure it out.

Last night ended up being okay. I was boasting about my regular yesterday who ended up standing me up by the end of the night. I think I spoke too soon about him being a good regular. He says he swears he will call me next time but we will have to see about that. Luckily after a few small tips and some base calls (calls where only the fee was collected) a guy called me off of my Eros ad and immediately said what he wanted to tip. That always kind of makes me nervous because I definitely don’t agree to any entertainment on the phone for my safety. I said I like to meet you first and give you a strip tease… he said sure and I headed over there. He passed my little test to feel safer and everything worked out so I didn’t have to stay for very long. He got a discount anyway. I figured if I hassled him for more money then he might think I am a hustling him and would ask me to leave. Believe it or not it happens..
