The Craziest Las Vegas Wind Storm and the M.A.G.I.C. Convetion

Wednesday, February 13th, 2008

This week is the MAGIC convention (I can’t find what it stands for but its basically a large fashion show for clothing makers that draws a lot of people). You could have fooled me that these people were even in town because it has been fairly quiet and the people I have gone to see on calls were not even here for any particular reason but to go on vacation in Vegas. The only reason why I know the fashion people are in town by the way people were dressed in the Venetian while I sat to eat at the Grand Lux Cafe. Great people watching site along with great way to assess how many crazy people come to Vegas. It’s amazing.

Besides the convention in town the other event going on is the hurricane force wind storm we are having. We get an amazing amount of wind here during the spring months but tonight is just something else. How’s a girl to keep her dress down in this weather? Heh. The answer is: she doesn’t! I am sure that is a factor in tonight’s quietness. I have seen at least two signs smashed to bits and a P.F. Chang’s sign that seemed to be speared by itself and slid down til it stopped on the larger part of its support beam. Wow. What a mess.

Hope some guys stay in their room and decide to get a girl to stay warm n’ toasty. I can surely help.

Do Strippers In Las Vegas Deserve Hourly Pay?

Tuesday, February 5th, 2008

Apparently some lawyer from Arizona thinks he has reason to fight a long fight in Nevada and sue the topless clubs to allow strippers to receive wages from the clubs so that they would be employees instead of independent contractors. While I agree with this, perhaps, if I still lived in my former home state where I was a dancer for a number of years then I would be totally for this and think that his firm has a chance. In fact after reading the article in the Review Journal I found out that they have fought it in court to allow such a thing in my home state.

The main reason why I am so, “yea good luck there, buddy” to this lawyer is because Las Vegas just doesn’t fall into the same guides like other states do. Girls come to Las Vegas often for one weekend to make a grip of cash and then leave to go back home. They never will return again. In fact it was reported that there are 10,000 adult entertainers who are registered in the county. That is insane to have to keep up with that amount of paper work. It is not that common to find a stripper at the same club over a long period of time. As many times as I have been to the Rhino over the past five years I know of 2 girls who have been there for more than a couple of years. Go to the same club I worked at before back home? I will still know about 5-10 girls and I haven’t worked there in several years.

I am all about fair and just treatment for girls working in the clubs but Las Vegas is an anomaly of it’s own. The club that is mentioned in the article is also a more seedy not so busy club downtown, the Glitter Gultch. If I worked there I would probably want hourly wages, too! Heh. Another downside girls see is that their tips will be reported and can’t get away with flubbing on their taxes so much. All in all? I say take the battle to other states or fight for the prostitutes out in the brothels who want benefits and don’t mind paying for it. That would be a campaign for a more just cause. Sorry the posts have been slim lately. I am out of town right now and brought this newspaper article with me as I left town. Definitely worth a talk…

The Concrete Convetion: My Saving Grace

Wednesday, January 23rd, 2008

Well I say that but I have only had 2 calls who were actually here for the concrete show (one ended up working out and the other was okay money). I don’t know what happened around town but all of the sudden things started picking up and my phone starting ringing. Most importantly those calls that I went to were actually turning out to be decent money calls instead of a whole bunch of pranksters.

Escorting in Las Vegas is amazing. There is no rhyme or reason to the ebb and flow of this town. One day will be crazy busy and you see HORDES of people on the Strip but yet all of the agencies and my web ads are quiet. Not a peep. Then the next week it will be a huge convention but they just don’t spend money. Then the next week it seems like no one is walking around the Strip but the calls I get will be scarce but huge money. No way of predicting things. I would be better off predicting the weather in Las Vegas than I would predicting how much money I will make a night.

Glad to see things are picking up. I just hope I don’t jinx myself.

I Am A Sorry Las Vegas Resident: I Didn’t Show Up At The Nevada Caucus

Sunday, January 20th, 2008

So I lied the other day and said it was slow here in Vegas. I just *thought* it was slow then! Friday night proved to be a chorus of crickets chirping and I ended up hanging out with some friends later on in the night which I regret now since I missed Saturday day and night. I also ended up not getting my butt out to the Nevada caucus at 11am due to… well I probably couldn’t drive.  Shame on me. All of the harassing phone calls by Hillary Clinton’s and Barack Obama’s campaign and my local precinct organizer didn’t pay off because really… Saturday morning was a dumb time to have a caucus in Las Vegas. Really. They should have had it at 7pm on a Monday or something. By that time we have all sobered up from the weekend, people who have regular jobs during the daytime can go and the night owls should be awake by then. Simple plan! If that was the time then I am sure 90% of residents would have been there! Make it 100% if you add a cash bar with martini’s poured by our randy Mayor Oscar Goodman and some bar nuts. Bingo! Biggest turn out in *America*

I had actually considered showing up drunken and in slutty clothes but that would have been a $20 cab ride from where I was. I figured that would have been very Vegas and American of me to show up in that condition… but alas, I don’t think I would have been able to stand it. Cast a vote drunk? Yes… Stay for a caucus thing that takes more than 5 minutes? No…. that’s too much drunken effort.  Well I definitely will be present in November.. and with bells on.
