Spammers in my Comments
I’ve been having a rash of people making comments on my blog just to try and drive traffic to their escort sites. From now on, when in doubt, I’m just going to mark comments as spam and WordPress will start deleting them as spam in the future. This is ridiculous. The links are even “nofollow” so it’s not going to help you in search engines, people!
That having been said, those of you who actually read my blog and participate, thank you very much.. this won’t affect you in any way.

June 19th, 2009 at 10:03 amYep, I can relate to this. This is why I am on LiveJournal. Does WordPress have the ability to screen all anonymous comments first? My blog at Livejournal does. That way when someone or a bot posts anonymously, my readers don’t even see it.

June 20th, 2009 at 6:12 amWordPress works well, but a little differently than Livejournal. It has a setting to make it so all comments have to be approved but that really makes legitimate people not want to comment and participate if they aren’t sure it will even make the cut… so I use a plugin that comes with WordPress to filter out spammers. It usually works great but lately a few have gotten through, although it also learns as it goes and I’ve added those spammers to WordPress’ known spammer list.
